On May 31, 2018, the Ukrainian-Chinese Economic Cooperation Forum was held at the Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library named after O. Gonchar.

People's Republic of China – is one of the key players in the world market; the largest donor and recipient of investment. Especially, for participation in the Forum, 25 business representatives from 4 provinces of the P.R.China, headed by the Secretary General of the Chinese Association for the Development of Entrepreneurship Abroad, Mr. Xe Zhengwei, visited Kherson.

Before the Forum began, the Chinese delegation visited the Institute of Irrigation Agriculture and joined the events on the occasion of the International Field Day, in which the governor of the Kherson region, the President of the Horn Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the farms of the Kherson region participated (Naddnipryans’ke village).

China is one of the largest investors in the world with a resource and a desire to invest in the Ukrainian economy. Chinese investors are particularly interested in such fields as agribusiness, transport and logistics, telecommunication networks, renewable energy, machinery, infrastructure projects.

At the invitation of the Kherson Chamber of Commerce, entrepreneurs and heads of territorial communities of the region took the opportunity to offer the Chinese guests their own business proposals and investment projects. Thus, during the Forum, there were presented proposals for cooperation in the agrarian and food industry, shipbuilding, recreation and recreation, Kherson airport development projects and the creation of an industrial park in Kherson. The Ukrainian side is interested not only in investments in itself but in the opportunity to adopt and implement Chinese innovation technologies.

As the Director of the Department on Economic Development and Trade of Kherson Regional State Administration Dmytro Butriy noted, Kherson enterprises are already actively cooperating with China in the field of processing, agro-industrial complex, alternative energy and maritime transport. The regional administration promises to every investor the necessary and comprehensive support.

Upon completion of Kherson region and its capabilities presentation, more detailed negotiations were held between the Chinese delegation and the Kherson companies, interested in joint work.

According to Ukrainian statistics data, as of December 31, 2017, the economy of Ukraine attracted 18.2 million dollars US investment from China. The largest volume of investments is directed to enterprises in the field of agriculture, forestry and fisheries; to industry, wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles. The volume of investments from Ukraine to the economy of China amounted to 1.5 million dollars. The main volume of these investments is directed to industrial enterprises.
