Visit of the Iranian delegation to Ukraine on October, 16-20 became the result of the development of bilateral business relations established within cooperation between the Iranian-Ukrainian Business Council and the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Members of Iranian-Ukrainian Business Council are businessmen who represent a wide range of economic activity: mechanical engineering, production of agricultural products, export trade, transport sector. To continue active cooperation, started in summer, Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Business Council and the Kherson CCI during the visit of Viktoria Ostroumova, the President of KCCI, to the cities of Tehran and Karaj at the beginning of October.

The Iranian delegation which had arrived to Kiev on October 16, was composed of: the Chairman of the Diplomatic Spouses Club, spouse of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic Iran Mrs. Vahid Masumi; TV-producer and a journalist of the leading Iranian TV channel Mrs. Sonia Puriamin; the head of the Teheran office of Arhax Consulting trading company, an expert on cooperation with CIS countries Mr. Salman Rakhimpur.

The President of KCCI Viktoria Ostroumova and the Iranian guests discussed the development of cultural and trade relations between both countries, cooperation in various industries, in fashion and design, and possibilities of carrying out exhibitions and fairs of the goods and traditional crafts in Iran and Ukraine.

On Sunday, October 18, the Iranian delegation participated in the work of the Iranian exhibition and fair booth stand within the III Festival of food and culture of the countries of Asia, organized by the Embassy of Malaysia and Indonesia jointly with the Kiev city administration. The culture and cuisine of 14 east countries were presented: Iran, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Vietnam, Lebanon and Palestine. Ambassadors of these countries participated in opening ceremony. Each made a welcoming speech and presented the exhibition booth of the country.

Visitors of the festival could taste traditional oriental dishes cooked by the families of diplomats.  In addition to the national cuisine, guests could get acquainted with art and culture of the East: purchase a variety of handicrafts, ornaments, dishes, clothing, and souvenirs; participate in master classes, enjoy folk dancing and just chat with natives of oriental culture.

Mrs. Masumi said that as Chairman of the Diplomatic Spouses Club of Iran she considered cultural and humanitarian spheres very important, and stressed the need to carry out such events more often. It was important that the festival not only helped the representatives of different countries and cultures to learn each other's traditions, but also to pursue the noble goal: the organizers intended to list the funds, raised during the event to Ukrainian children- immigrants from the East of Ukraine, as a charity.

Further prospects of Ukrainian-Iranian partnership, efforts for deepening cooperation at regional level and possibilities of business visits exchange were discussed by representatives of the Iranian delegation, the President of Kherson CCI, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic Iran to Ukraine Mr. Mohammad Beheshti Monfared and the First Vice-president of the Ukrainian CCI Mr. Mikhail Nepran. During negotiations Viktoria Ostroumova presented a web-site www.iran.ks.ua, which had been recently developed upon the initiative of the Kherson Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It is devoted to the development of business cooperation between Ukraine and Iran. This site was conceived as an information platform where Ukrainian and Iranian enterprises could post their commercial offers, find business partners, and be informed about actual Iranian-Ukrainian events. Russian and English versions of the site have been already launched; Persian version is being developed now.

As a result of meetings with the Iranian delegation in Kiev preliminary arrangements on carrying out joint business events in Tehran (at the end of the current year), in Kiev and Kherson (in the first half of the next year) have been reached.
